Why Do People Follow Someone on Twitter?

Posted by Mr Business Golf @ 10:31 PM, Sunday Jan 31st, 2010

I could end this blog right here by saying..I have no idea why people follow other people on Twitter, but I do have an idea.

Twitter is truly a phenomena, or is it.  The humble beginnings for Twitter where not all so humble.  Why it has gained success is a mystery or is it?

I am not trying to be coy with the questions contradicting each other, just illustrating

P90X week one

Posted by kokogirl chronicles @ 8:47 PM, Sunday Jan 31st, 2010
If you look at my TTUC (Twitter Trim UP Challenge) goals, you see that I am committed to the P90X workout and nutrition plan. This was week 1 of my P90X journey. I have been keeping a nutrition and exercise journal, and I have summed up what I have done well and have not well this week on my P90X plan.

I began the plan on Tuesday, not Monday, so I took Monday as a rest day. I completed DVD 1, the Chest and Back on Tuesday, and it was tough. The workout consisted of lots of push ups and pull ups. By lots I mean millions. I modified many of the push ups by using my knees and I modified pull ups by doing pull downs using bands attached to a door. I followed this up the with Ab Ripper X video. This was a tough workout and I was very sore for 2 days.

I was supposed to do DVD 2, plyometrics on Wednesday, but I did a lower body workout with some jumping/plyometrics at the gym instead. I am babying my IT Band on my right leg due to a running injury.

Thursday was DVD 3, shoulder and arms, and I did the video with weights at home, followed by the Ab Ripper X video. I do need some heavier dumbells for next week for my arms.

Friday I was supposed to do the P90X YogaX, but instead I ran and did walking lunges. I actually ran almost 2 miles IN A ROW with almost no knee pain!

Saturday and Sunday I played golf, and did not follow P90X plan. I also did not keep my nutrition journal on the weekend.

Positives about this week:
Took my P90X “before” pics
Began P90X
Kept nutrition journal most days
Worked out or played golf 6 out of 7 days
Worked out/ran 4 out of 7 days
Ran 2 miles in a row with almost no knee pain

Negatives about this week:
Did not follow P90X to the letter
Fell of the wagon on the weekend

By using my journal to keep track of my food intake and my exercise, it is easy for me to sum up last week and prepare for this week. I have purchased the proper food, and I have set aside time for my workouts. I am ready to Bring It!

Congratulations to Kristie Smith for her first win as a professional. The young Australian claimed the trophy at the Royal Canberra Ladies Classic on the ALPG Tour with a final-round 64 that propelled her past Katherine Hull.

Kristie has LET status in 2010, and we might see her on the Futures Tour, as well, where she had a second-place finish in a handful of rookie-year starts in 2009.

Your Photo is a Must Have for effective Social Media

Posted by Mr Business Golf @ 2:53 PM, Sunday Jan 31st, 2010

Have you looked around lately at the online business/social networking groups you belong?  If so then you have noticed that there are a lot of people not posting their photo in avatars.

Recently I looked into what was going on with this negative turn of events.

In the social environment, posting anything other than a person’s true photo is becoming a red flag for viewers to a possible deception

PGA Tour Releases Statement Regarding Ping Eye 2 Irons

Posted by Blaine Ballard @ 4:35 PM, Saturday Jan 30th, 2010

Today the PGA Tour released a statement in an attempt to quell the player uprising regarding the use of Ping Eye 2 irons:

In light of the public comments that have been made regarding the use of pre-1990 Ping Eye 2 irons in competitions sanctioned by the PGA TOUR, it is important for our players, fans and the media to understand the following:

• Under the Rules of Golf and the 2010 Condition of Competition for Groove Specifications promulgated by the USGA, pre-1990 Ping Eye 2 irons are permitted for play and any player who uses them in PGA TOUR sanctioned events taking place in jurisdictions of the USGA is not in violation of the Rules of Golf; and

• Because the use of pre-1990 Ping Eye 2 irons is permitted for play, public comments or criticisms characterizing their use as a violation of the Rules of Golf as promulgated by the USGA are inappropriate at best.

Commissioner Finchem will address this issue in greater detail on Tuesday, Feb. 2 during a regularly scheduled player meeting and with the media during the 2010 Northern Trust Open

Scott McCarren added fuel to the fire yesterday when he basically accused Phil Mickelson of cheating.  Critics shot back that McCarren is a hypocrite since he games a belly putter and many consider that to be a much worse offense.  I agree – McCarren should shut his pie hole.  Belly putters are an abomination.  Plus, the last thing the PGA needed was another controversy involving one of their superstar players.  Nobody on tour benefits from that and McCarren should know better.

Two Things That Make Social Media Fun!

Posted by Mr Business Golf @ 2:20 PM, Saturday Jan 30th, 2010
I was in a meeting this week where I was told that Social Media was.. Not Fun! Of course the person who was telling me this was one of the many business owners who expect to sell every person they talk to their services…if not..it is not fun to them.  This is just one of the many examples of how people are told to use social media that Read More

Love Your Putter

Posted by PutterZone.com @ 2:02 PM, Saturday Jan 30th, 2010
TaylorMade Kia Ma Putter
The latest issue of GolfWorld includes a telling tale of Kenny Perry and his PING G2i Craz-E putter.

Now, you may recall that PutterZone.com turned the spotlight on Perry's putter last year. A member at Perry's club in Vero Beach gave the putter to him, and Perry credited the gesture for reviving his putting game: "I've putted beautifully ever since he gave me this putter," Perry said.

Now comes news that the tip of the shaft on Perry's beloved putter broke at the recent SBS Championship after rusting from the inside out. Perry promptly put a backup Craz-E putter into play, but, he said, "That putter didn't look or feel the same."

The broken club was overnighted from the tournament in Hawaii to PING's headquarters in Phoenix for an emergency repair. Perry went so far as to request a replica of the shaft band bearing the original owner's name and address so that the putter will look exactly as it did before the shaft replacement.

We find this story quite instructive, as it is yet another vivid demonstration of how the putter is the most personal stick in the bag.

Kenny Perry is among a handful of the most elite golfers in the world, yet the slightest change in his putter causes him great concern. Shouldn't a guy that talented be able to pick up any old stick and roll the rock with consistent authority? Apparently not.

There is a lesson in here for the average recreational golfer, and for those who dismiss the importance of developing a personal relationship with your putter.

Simply put, you should love your putter. You should love every aspect of how it feels, looks and, of course, performs.

Some folks will say, well, it really doesn't matter that much, putting performance is more about the golfer than the putter.

Well, then, how do you explain the numerous PGA Tour professionals who come undone when their trusty putter gets lost or broken? How do you explain Kenny Perry, Payne Stewart and other elite golfers who, upon switching to a new putter, immediately elevated their games?

Which brings us to the related discussion about putter pricing, What is a reasonable amount for someone to spend on a putter? People ask us this question quite frequently.

The answer is: Pay what you can afford for a putter that you can love. That could mean $89 for one of the beautiful new Cleveland BRZ putters, or $325 for one of the gorgeous new SeeMore DB4 putters, or $179 for the hot new Slotline 600 Series putters, or $299 for the exquisite TaylorMade Kia Ma Monaco putter (pictured above), to name a few.

Does that mean that one putter offers $100 or $200 more in actual performance than another? Hard to say, isn't it? You can't put a price on love. And loving your putter is a huge factor in long-term performance.

If you love your putter, you will be inspired to practice more. You will look forward to using your putter. You will keep it for a long time, enabling you to enjoy consistency and familiarity, both of which can raise your game. How do you quantify such things?

So find a putter you love. Whether it starts off as a cheap date or an expensive date, the most important thing is that your putter should be marriage material.

How a CostCo or Sam’s Club Membership can Help Your Social Media

Posted by Mr Business Golf @ 12:58 PM, Saturday Jan 30th, 2010

The first thing business people need to realize about social media is it requires more socializing in person, with real live people, than previous or traditional methods of marketing.  At the point of the ‘social media spear’ is business networking and tradeshow marketing.  What is required for these efforts to be effective is what so many business people are really not comfortable with doing which is…talking.

Posted by Mr Business Golf @ 12:58 PM, Saturday Jan 30th, 2010

The basis of Social Media is the social interaction. There are several methods of socializing both online and offline.  However, when it comes to substantiating who the ‘real person’ is you are socializing with in either environment there really is not a better place to go than their blog.   If someone does not have a blog they run a risk of having limiting their reach into their markets.
